We will discuss here the steps of removing the whirlpool ice maker.

Step 1: Unplug the Refrigerator

Unplug the refrigerator or switch off the refrigerator’s circuit breaker. Close the water supply cut-off valve for the water line connected to the refrigerator’s rear.

The water supply cut-off valve is frequently positioned in such a way that it can be stopped while still reaching inside the refrigerator.

The cutoff valve is usually located on a wall behind or near the refrigerator, but it might also be under the kitchen sink or in a basement beneath a refrigerator.

Step 2: Remove the ice maker

Push the tab to the left of the ice maker to release it, then push the icemaker forward and off the rails. Unlock the wire harness plug with a screwdriver and remove it from the plug.

Take out the ice maker from the freezer compartment door. Seal the freezer door. You can now figure out what went wrong with your faulty item!

Step 3: Remove the mounting plate

To remove the ice maker, first place it upside down on a flat surface. Then take a 1/4-inch nut driver and remove the screws that secure the bottom mounting plate to it.

Once this is done, you’ll release the locking tabs of both sides of the wire harness plug to release it from the bottom mounting plate.

Pull out the wire harness and you are ready to move onto installing your replacement ice maker.

Step 4: Attach the mounting plate with New Ice Maker

Insert the ice maker into the bottom plastic mounting plate, aligning each hole with the others. Allow a small gap between them to account for any differences in placement that may arise during shipping.

Tighten the screws that came with your purchase one at a time on the bottom of the unit.

Step 5: Plug in the wire harness

Place the ice maker in the freezer and align it with the mounting rail. Connect its harness to the connecting plug and clamp it into place until you hear a click.

Slide the fill tube into its cup before positioning the ice maker so that the locking tab snaps into place when you push it onto the mount.

Step 6: Restore water and electricity

When you’re ready to mount the cover, begin by sliding the front plastic pane into position in the front of mounting clip. Insert the side pin into the mounting clip first, then the other.

Now, push down on top of it to insert all pins and secure with a click. Pry up flipper cover’s tape tabs, open shut-off valve, replace water line inlet tube, plug refrigerator in and turn on house circuit breaker or flip switch.
