Maytag bravos xl washer water inlet valve replacement

Maytag bravos xl washer water inlet valve replacement. The water inlet valve assembly helps give your Maytag washer different settings for different types of loads.

If the body cracks, it could mean water leaked throughout the machine. Additionally, the solenoids can stop working over time, affecting the machine’s ability to dispense water correctly.

The good news is that you can replace this part yourself by following a few simple steps. All you need is a replacement part.

We will discuss the steps of replacing the water inlet valve of the washer.

Disconnect the Water Supplies

Before starting any appliance repair, always unplug the appliance. You will also need to turn off the local hot and cold water supplies for a washing machine.

You may need to pull the washer away from the wall during the repair to more easily access the appliance’s rear–disconnecting the drain hose from the washer or pulling it out of the wall connection (stretching it) so it doesn’t get damaged.

Have a towel ready during the repair in case water leaks from any hoses.

Disassemble the machine

Before you begin, you will need to locate the two black hose connections on the underside of the washer’s top panel. Take a picture of the hose lengths to guide which hoses will go where during reassembly.

Next, depress the two tabs between the top panel and body of the machine. Pry a putty knife about six inches from each front corner to press each tab.

Once both are open, swing the door up. Secure it with a belt, so it doesn’t rest on the hinges or against the back wall. Finally, remove the hoses from the water valves.

Remove the Assembly of a water inlet valve

To remove the wiring harness, cut the zip tie holding a bunch of wires together on the left side of the console.

Then, locate the thermistor, plugged into one of the plugs near the machine’s back. It will be equipped with two blue wires.

To remove the old wiring, start by prying it out of the plug and then loosening the length of wire from the retaining clips.

You might need to use a flathead screwdriver to help pry the wire out of each tab without damaging anything in the process.

Once you’ve reached the grey wiring box on the right side, detach the two wide wire harnesses from their respective mounting tabs.

Replace the Inlet valve

Align the new part with the solenoids at the top and the water connections at the bottom. Bring it in line with the holes and press it down firmly.

Secure it with the two screws you removed before. Move the power cord back into place. Slide the length of the wire over the centre of the water inlet assembly and press the black mount into its hole.

Then, slide the black box on the wire into its cutout so that the power cord is where it originally was.

FAQs

What is causing my Maytag Bravos XL to leak water?

If your drain pump is experiencing any water leakage, it could be due to a crack or damage in the pump itself or worn-out bearings.

In either case, the drain pump will need to be replaced as it cannot be repaired. Another potential cause for water leakage is a tear in the tub seal.

What should I do if my water inlet valve is clogged?

Check the filter screens for clogs in the water inlet valve, which can block the water flow. This is a common reason for water inlet valves to fail and is the easiest problem to remedy.

Inspect the water inlet valve for any possible blockages by peering into the two hose fitting ports with a flashlight. There should be a screen inside each port.
